Why Skin and Spa

After more than fifteen years in skin care and esthetics, Elisha decided it was time to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and share her knowledge, insights and theories to help others make healthier decisions when it came to caring for their skin. It is never surprising how many people, men and women alike, love talking about anything skin and spa. The minute they learn Elisha’s profession, their eyes widen with excitement and the questions pour out: Which moisturizer is the best? Is a night cream really necessary? Should everyone have a glycolic peel? Does waxing stretch your skin? Does laser really work? Are ingredients in products toxic? The questions are endless and because she is so passionate, Elisha cannot stop talking and teaching. She knew it was time to blog Skin and Spa.
While actively practicing esthetics, it did not take long for Elisha to realize that most people haven’t a connection to their skin and barely grasp the basic fundamentals of skin care. They rarely viewed their skin as an organ that needed to be properly taken care of and nourished and instead thought washing your face meant they were following a “beauty regimen” and they’re not having any of that!
Elisha has always believed that to get anywhere in any life or form, you have to know the basics. You have to begin anything to move forward to the next level. Skin and Spa’s goal is to act as a well-rounded, simple and approachable informative tool to help people on all levels and in all environments be healthier by simply making smarter, more conscious choices. This is how to achieve gorgeous and radiant skin!
Elisha is not an advocate of lengthy thrice-daily regimens, hope-in-a-jar remedies, crushed pearl and gold leafed and bird pooped on products (yes, some folks swear by pigeon pooh for their face). Harsh peels and invasive treatments in her opinion are for those who truly need medical attention and for everyone else, start feeding your skin food and now! The results are sometimes immediate and sometimes need some time, but the payoff of incorporating a organic food and oil based regimen will assuredly manifest into glowing, soft and “alive” skin for life. That is the absolute truth!
With so many “experts” out there it is difficult to decipher who is there to help you, and who is there to spout the latest trend, untried as well, that was read from any pick of beauty and fashion magazines. Elisha understands that your challenge is tracking down true aficionados and professionals that will help you without a selfish motive (i.e. selling you product). Estheticians that can offer individual theories and tried and true practices to genuinely help you achieve your goals for blemish free (except the occasional pimple. That is normal) and radiant skin. Elique will offer you clarity and insight that will help you as a consumer in a very saturated market and in turn you will learn how easy it is to make healthier personal care choices on your own and for YOUR skin. After all, Elisha says, “…this is your skin, your body’s only external and most complex organ and considering a primary function of it is to absorb (eat), you may want to be more particular about what you feed it.”
So, What are skin foods you ask? Elisha breaks it down very straightforwardly and after a quick second to absorb what she says, it seems quite obvious.”What you choose will either nourish your skin so it is vibrant, supple, soft, protected and even-toned or it will malnourish it so it is chapped, tight, lackluster, red, itchy and sensitized. A nightmare to look at and live with!” She also emphasizes the importance of taking personal responsibility and ownership. Consumers must pay more attention to and trust their “common sense” and not underestimate it. Following one’s gut has always proved an effective tool when purchasing a product (and in general is a great rule of thumb). Be conscious. Be smart.
